Getting in touch.

Skype video call is one of the best way to communicate with my wife and girl. Technology really helps a lot in getting in touch with love ones. I just can't stand the thought of the old days when Internet is unavailable and people get to leave their family to work. I already find it damn hard to cope (even with phone calls and skype video conference). I really feel lucky and actually much contended that I was born in this era. Kudos to our forefathers who left China (and their family) and came to Singapore to work and settle. My current situation is nothing compared to their hardship they faced and their longing of returning to their home town.

More Infrared photos

I had a 3 day break recently and took a half a day yesterday to visit the new Henderson Wave bridge at Mt Fabour park.

I brought along my IR modded Sony A100 with a 20mm f/2.8 prime and went shooting. Its been almost a month since I last held a camera and shoot seriously.

Here's some results of that shoot. You could see more at my facebook photo album.

My new bike.

Ok. I think some of you guys following my blog knows that I cycled to work. But my mountain bike is heavy and big and I constantly worried that it will get stolen (lots of factory workers and foreign workers at Kaki Bukit). Thus it crossed my mind one day to get a bike that is fold able, so I could carry it into my office.

Surprised to find that actually foldies are actually a hit in SG already. Anyway, went to a local foldie forum and saw this little gem. Its called Strida bike. I actually want to get the version 3.3 (cheaper) but I am sold on the disc brakes and aluminium frame and paid 300 more for the version 5.0.

The shop is at Lavendar. The husband and wife who owns the shop showed me various ways of folding and unfolding the bike. It actually is the easiest to fold among the few foldies they are selling in their shop. They are also very friendly and actually asked me for my riding style and preference before recommending me the Strida. So I bought it on the spot and immediately took a ride on it to Lavendar MRT. It may look flimsy in the pictures you see but it actually is very sturdy. You need to get a bit used to it though as just a small arm movement will cause it to swerve. The idea is to relax your arms a bit...

I got onto the train and a lot of people just looked at my new bike... hehehe... Got off at Kembangan and rode home. Very pleasant ride and although its only 1-speed, it is takes little effort to climb slopes as the front gear is huge!

Highly recommended for those who wants to stop using feeder services or even buses.

My new friends and girl girl's update.

None other than my new colleagues here in my new job. Its actually quite interesting to meet new people.

There are a total of 14 (including me and boss) guys and gals under the team. Only one lady at the moment and the newcomer is a lady oso..

Boss is same age as me and so we can speak in the same wavelength. (not like those old uncle that is hard to explain things to them)

All my other colleagues are ok also. (Except one which maybe I would mention in my future post)

All in all, I'm quite happy with the environment but the work load is damn heavy. Especially when you are on the phone and events start pouring into your screen..... stress man....

Mum is back from Thailand and she seems happy with the trip. Girl now loves to mimic people and its seems my mother had quite a great time with her granddaughter for the pass 2 weeks. I am planning to take leave in July to have some time with her and wify... Really miss them very much.
