My new friends and girl girl's update.

None other than my new colleagues here in my new job. Its actually quite interesting to meet new people.

There are a total of 14 (including me and boss) guys and gals under the team. Only one lady at the moment and the newcomer is a lady oso..

Boss is same age as me and so we can speak in the same wavelength. (not like those old uncle that is hard to explain things to them)

All my other colleagues are ok also. (Except one which maybe I would mention in my future post)

All in all, I'm quite happy with the environment but the work load is damn heavy. Especially when you are on the phone and events start pouring into your screen..... stress man....

Mum is back from Thailand and she seems happy with the trip. Girl now loves to mimic people and its seems my mother had quite a great time with her granddaughter for the pass 2 weeks. I am planning to take leave in July to have some time with her and wify... Really miss them very much.

IR at Temasek Polytechnic

I get to go to Temasek Polytechnic to help out my Master's photography event. Since it was a bright and sunny day. Took out my mod-IR cam and took some pictures of the campus.

Here's 3 of them. The effect is really interesting but it seems that the sensor is damn dirty.... most probably will send it back in to do some cleaning.

Going IR

My IR is not Integrated Resort Lah... but rather on photography. Digital Infra Red. I used to borrow my friend's Hoya R72 (a type of IR filter for lenses) and was a bit peeved by the needs to screw on the filter on and off to compose a shot. This is because once you have an IR filter on the lens, the whole viewfinder becomes literally dark. The exposure time is long also as the camera's sensor has a layer of IR filter just in front of it. Blocking all the IR lights.

As 2nd hand DSLR cameras are getting cheaper by the day (more new models come out, the cheaper the older ones hehe). I got myself another Sony A100 and mod it to become a dedicated IR camera. Got it today from my trusty camera technician and tried it just now. Too bad its at night, not really capturing the potential but the effects are quite interesting.

Here's a sample of night IR... check out the sky with some clouds. Normally you won't get them with normal cameras.

And to answer some questions on whether this camera can "see" thru clothes.... well, in theory its possible but I dun dare to try leh.... :P

Birthday Girl

Tomorrow is Girl girl's birthday, she's going to be 2 years old. My mum is already over there (since 13th) as a representative for me. (I can't go as still on probation)

Time really flies. She was also due for her annual injection. Just yesterday, she went for her jab. hehe.. Wife told me that she complained the nurse who administer the jab. And point finger at her and said in Thai "Papa will come and beat you!" hoo... I stress liao.

There's also feedback from my mum that my girl girl is the unofficial "leader" of the gang of kids around my neighbourhood liao. There are around 5 babies around my daughter's age (plus minus 1). They kind of learn and follow all the bad stuff my girl is doing. And she's the most creative in causing trouble. Just last night, she was standing while bending her head down and pee at the same time.... headache liao

Anyway, I missed them so much and really regret not being able to be there on her 2 year old birthday. Already ask my mum to pass my birthday present to her and she likded it a lot (A box of Duplo). So hopefully next year I would be around.
