C is for Cookie!!!

Sesame Street is one of my favorite show when I was a kid. So its the norm that I would get some Sesame DVDs for my girl girl and she loved them Her favorite seems to be Rosita. (Luckily not bloody Elmo). So after I got my Mac Mini hooked up. I tried to grab some more classic clips from the net and was surprised to find sesamestreet.org has various classic clips and activities.

Anyway I can't grab the video to my blog so thanks to youtube. Here's one of my all time favorite from Cookie Monster (Girl girl likes him too... )

You can view the new version here.

Phone Review

Bought a Nokia(clone)6500 from Thachilek (Myanmar) for 3400baht. (about SG$150) I saw some of my Thai friends using it and was pretty impressed so I bought one myself. Told Mr BLL about it and he got excited and asked me to post some pictures. Since got so many things to say... better to make a video review.

Btw, sorry for the lousy speech as this is taken by myself with no script and in one take only... maybe next time will do a better job. :P

More chopsticks

Took another shot at girl using chopsticks. Previous one is a bit low quality.. This one is clearer... hehehe

Baby & Chopsticks

Girl Girl's Uncle (wife's younger brother) came and we went out for dinner. Wify passed her the chopstick and I warned her she's too young and might poke her eyes out. But wify told me she already knew how to use it liao.. What happened is super funny. Hui hui and her chopstick skills is really a stunner! hahahaha.. Sorry for the lousy video as I was using my 2mp Sony Ericsson phone to take this. You should see how she placed the meat on the hot plate man... Think have to scale down on the fish oil I have been giving her.....

Girl girl Hell rider!

I know they always say start early but can you imagine a kid (more like baby to me) not even 2 years old on a bicyle??? Freaking funny... hehehe

Anyway, back in Thailand yesterday but too tired to write anything. The weather here is fantastic, afternoon around 26 degrees while Night a bit cold. Morning is the worst though, can hit 11 degree man.. Brrrrrr! Funny thing is that the cold weather came a bit earlier leh (normally its Dec then got such temp).

Fastest STripper

Nah beh, last time if I know this technique in NS. No need to worry about Change parade liao....

Korp Kai Ya Sip MTV Trailer

This TV series show was pretty popular in Thailand and its about a boy being born with a physical defect. He was given a special armour which he wore would grant him supernatural powers. The story is quite interesting and so are the CGI special effects. This clip is the MTV of the title song for the show. Title of the song is same as the show Korp Kai Ya Sip which translated means Armour (of) God (Good). I really like the way the song blends traditional Thai instruments with heavy rock.

Youtube is back in Thailand!

Actually youtube is back since last week. But the good thing about youtube is besides having getting to watch some funny vidz. We also get to watch some good quality documentaries. Like this one, Banned from the Bible Part 1 and 2. Its actually from History Channels and kinds of explains how the Christian Bible came to be. Very interesting and informative. :) The same guy also posted a series called Islam: Empire of Faith. For those interested in religion or history.

Baby Making Som Tham

Som Tham is a Thai papaya or mango salad. Very sour and spicy. Wife loves to eat it and girl girl seems to enjoy seeing people making it....

Ball ball!!!

Just want to update a bit on girl girl... here's a video I took yesterday... hehe

Some update

Its great to be back in Thailand! But the weather here quite jialat. Everyday rain or cloudy. Not hot and humid but a bit moody feeling.

Anyway, here's a video of girl girl playing foot ball... hehehe more to come soon.

The Real Transformers

The movie is a trash but this clip from youtube is not.  Have to say these jokers are really ONz... hahaha

I like the Starscream and Optimus Prime.  At least this is more entertaining than the movie.

More Zen!!

I want to write more about my new Zen Vision W. Hehe. Wanted to give a review about this little gadget. First, its really has a great screen. 16:9 aspect ratio really helps in viewing movies. And it also have the ability to stretch the video to fill up the screen if necessary. Pretty cool feature. Battery last quite long, about 5 hours (a bit more as the box gave 4.5 hours)

Sound quality with my Shure E2G headphones are excellent. I watched part of Snakes on a Plane on a bus heading to my school and enjoyed every minute of it.

Plugging this baby into a computer is easy with Vista. As it is using MTP (M$ Transfer Protocol), I could easily transfer file by dragging and dropping in Explorer (only in Windows system). For my MACbook Pro, I used XNJB. A free software and I could make it mount easily on my MAC too!!! Yeah!!

The software provided by Creative is simple and easy to use. Files that needs conversion will actually be prompted and you could choose to re-code it to a playable format.

Most files actually play. There are some that don't, especially those that are AC3(5.1) encoded. Copying from VCD is also not a hassle as the player supports VCD's dat format. I copied my friend's Ultraman Mebius and Ultraman brothers and watched it without any issues.

So far so good, but here's the ugly part. First, the screen is a dust or finger print magnet. One touch and you get smudge so a screen protector is absolutely necessary. The silicon skin is also magnet to dust and so is the bloody pouch. Pouch is too small and its made of velvet. :( No no to dusty environment. Another major thing is VOB files from DVD does not work and it requires ripping and conversion. Which means all my current DVD library needs to be encoded.

I tried encoding with some third party software and most of them took ages to convert. And its not easy to encode in DivX or Xvid. So you would end up encoding it in mpeg or VCD. Which means quality suffers and file sizes bigger.

The player also has a CF card slot which allows you to back up the CF card. Buy now and creative is giving a free SD/MS/XD card converter for those using other media. VERY useful for me as a photographer. For those interested, beware! You can't play videos or pictures from the card directly, you need to import it into the Zen's hard drive before you can play.

All in all, a good player that met my expectations and actually performed even better than I expected. Not recommended if you are not sure of where to get videos. (IF you plan to rip DVD, forget about this device). If you have a good collection of VCDs or divx/Xvid. Yes, its definitely a good buy. My only complain now is why in the world I go buy the 30Gig version??!!! Should have add 100 more for the 60Gig.... 4/5 stars

*Updates. Forgot to mention you could hooked this up to your TV with the supplied AV cables. I re-watched Hot Fuzz with my Family that night and quality is as good as DVD. Too bad no AC3 audio but good enough for me already :)

Sour!!!酸！！！

Girl trying a piece of guava which happens to be very sour.... she kinds of like it though.... :P

Attack of the evil pooh bear!

Sometimes a simple toy can be so fun to play with. hehe.

It's Here!!

Ordered this for sometime. Finally arrived yesterday from Australia. 4 disc set filled with 38 episodes. Finish Disc 1 just now, shiok man. Those from my era will definitely know about M.A.S.K and Transformers.

Animation was surprisingly good for a 1985 productions (more than 20 years!!). Check out wikipedia and found out its animated by the Japanese (no wonder I see all the shadings and the facial expressions). And the music, what great tunes man. hehe

Still got collection 2 which consists of the rest of the episode but not released yet. :P
